How to Become a Member
What do I need to open a membership account?
Valid, unexpired government-issued ID (i.e. driver’s license or passport) OR copy of birth certificate and social security card
Social security number (if you have one; if you don’t, see special requirements for non-US citizen below)
Proof of address (if the one on your ID is no longer valid; i.e. utility bill or rental agreement)
$25 share deposit ($5 for youth/teen accounts)
Special Requirements:
Parent/guardian to be joint on account (youth/teen only)
DHS-authorized social security card (non-US citizen only)
Completed W-8BEN form (non-US citizen only; instructions available here)
Second form of photo ID (non-US citizen only, if first ID does not state country of origin)
Proof of EIN (i.e. letter from IRS; orgs and businesses only)
Meeting minutes which specifically state an account can be opened at BFCU and who can be on the account (download template; orgs only)
